On March 7, 1993, one of the most severe winter storms in U.S. history hit the East Coast, causing heavy snow, blizzards, and record-low temperatures. The storm, which stretched from Alabama to Maine, led to widespread power outages and closed down major cities. Approximately 270 people died as a result of the blizzard, most of them due to traffic accidents, hypothermia, or carbon monoxide poisoning. The storm also caused significant disruptions in air travel and transportation. The 1993 blizzard remains one of the most memorable weather events in U.S. history.
