On January 6, 1919, a massive molasses storage tank burst in Boston, releasing a wave of molasses that flooded the streets. The disaster resulted in 21 deaths and over 150 injuries. The molasses flowed at speeds up to 35 miles per hour, causing significant destruction. Many buildings and vehicles were carried away, and the event became known as the Great Molasses Flood.
